Consultation
Public consultation is a crucial component of the pre-application process for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs).
We are committed to early and continuous engagement to ensure that the development of our proposals for East Pye Solar is informed and shaped by community input. Local communities, residents, and councils play a vital role in this process.
The design process for the proposed development will be iterative and will be informed by feedback received during the two stages of community consultation that are planned for the project.
Overview of consultation stages
-
This is a non-statutory phase of consultation during which time we shared details of our early-stage proposals for the overall Project and invited you to tell us what you think. We will use the views and comments you submitted during this first phase of consultation, together with the findings from ongoing studies and surveys we are carrying out, to help us shape and refine our proposals.
We received feedback on:
The overall Project
The broad route corridors for an underground cable to connect the Project to the new National Grid substation
Community initiatives that we could support to create benefits for communities in proximity to our Project
Additional considerations for how we deliver the next phase of consultation
We want to ensure those communities living and working in proximity of where we are proposing to build East Pye Solar have the chance to inform and influence the development of our proposals.
Our initial phase of non-statutory consultation ran from Wednesday 23 October to Friday 6 December 2024. It provided the opportunity for us to introduce Island Green Power, share information about our plans for East Pye Solar, and gain your feedback.
We will use the comments submitted to this consultation to better understand the potential impacts of our proposals and refine our designs to ensure the final project will have minimal impact on the local area.
-
Further to developing more detailed proposals for the project, we will then carry out a second stage of consultation (“Phase Two”). This will be a statutory phase of consultation as is required by the Development Consent Order process. We expect to carry out this second phase of consultation in Summer 2025.
We will review our detailed proposals in light of the feedback received during this second consultation, along with the outcomes of ongoing assessments, to finalise and submit our application for development consent to the Planning Inspectorate.
